What is the rally all about? All sponsorship money was given to various community organisations. There was over $120,000 raised over the 10 years with the Golden Mile Loopline Railway Society, the Goldfields Brass Band, St john's Ambulance, the Palace Theatre and the Royal Flying Doctor Services being some of the major benificiaries. There were no rules (except for normal road rules and what the judges make up ), but contestants were expected to show a bit of common sense in regard to behaviour, so a lot of mad cap fun with flour & water bombs being the order of the day. The judges decision was final and anything they deemed to be unsafe was confiscated. Undies dollars was the way you gained points and bribed the officials. Sponsorship money was exchanged at the beginning of the race for Undies money. Bribery and corruption was the order of the day to gain extra points. All cars were deemed to be worth $500 but that is where the bribery and corruption come in. If you wanted to take a 2008 Jaguar on an Undies run and tell us it is worth $500 we would believe you, (as long as you grease our palm). It was sad to say "no more"Undies", but all good things must come to an end. There was a lot of interest but not enough cars being registered to make it viable. I will leave the bottom part intact for posterity and bid you all "Good-bye" Head Honcho What will it cost? It will cost $110.00 (inclusive of GST) to enter a car, and $70.00 per team member which will cover the “Undies Ball” and all meals, There will be a limited amount of polo-shirts available for $25.00, (please order these so we can get your size). All is non refundable from 1st February unless we have some-one to take your place. Late entries after 1st February will incur additional cost so get in early. You will need at least $500.00 in sponsorship money and corporate sponsorship of cars is allowed. Back up crew will not be permitted as we will have a trailer to transport your gear to the overnight camp, and we will also have a backup vehicle. We haven’t lost a car yet. Mind you there have been a few casualties that didn’t make the whole run. You will be responsible for insurance for your team and vehicle and it is suggested that you apply for a suitable insurance cover for the weekend. The 2009 Undies 500 The Undies route this year will be organised in the new year, but we will be heading north to stay away from busy areas. No visitors will be allowed at the overnight camp. You will need to have swags etc as we camp under the stars. It is advised to have a spare pair of undies or two as there will be water activities. There will also be a red faces competition on Saturday night which attracts extra points. As we will have a trailer to transport all gear and equipment to the overnight camp, along with a backup vehicle, backup crews are not permitted. The Undies Ball The Undies Ball will be held at the Boulder Ex-serviceman's Club on Black Friday, 13th February, commencing at 7.00pm.The judging of the competitors and the cars will be done during the evening and top sponsor named. It includes supper entertainment and extra tickets for partners and friends are available There will be a door prize, and this has been something extraordinary so far. Rules of the Event The rules are there are no rules (expect for normal road rules), so be prepared for a lot of mad cap fun with flour and water bombs being the order of the day. The judges decision is final (bribes are accepted). Undies dollars are the way you gain points and bribe officials. Your sponsorship money is exchanged at the beginning of the race for Undies money. As a guide, $10.00 is the equivalent of $100.00 in Undies currency. There will be a prize for the most sponsorship money raised. |
