Federation Plaques

There was a ribbon cutting ceremony at midday 20th August outside the Boulder Court House to official open Boulder’s newest tourist attraction. There were four plaques placed in the alcove outside the Camera Club portion of the Court House to commemorate the part that Boulder played in the Federation of Western Australia.

This small display, continuously open to the Public, records this momentous event in Western Australia’s history where the Goldfields challenged the rest of the State to hold a Referendum on becoming part of the Commonwealth of Australia, and won the day. The rest is history.

The plaques have been a long term project by one of Boulder Promotions committee, Jeff Jones, and it is great to see it coming to fruition. The four plaques have been sponsored by the Kalgoorlie Miner, City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, BP&DA, Polymer Fabrication and Kalgoorlie Caravan Park.
