The Boulder Promotion and Development Association (BPDA) saw the potential in the bringing to fruition the 'Historic Walk' planned by Boulder's Hidden Secrets. The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder was approached to apply for a Centenary of Federation grant for an "Interactive Walk". The Centenary of Federation Committee granted $20,000 to have 72 granite plaques made to commemorate people, places and events important in the history of Boulder as part of the City's four million dollar "Streetscape" redevelopment project.

BP&DA placed an advertisement in the Kalgoorlie Miner calling for nominations from the public of deceased early Boulderites with a short account of the nominee's life. The resulting 'Interactive Walk' and accompanying booklet is the culmination of many hours of work and the common goal to promote Boulder and reveal its colourful history for all to enjoy. Sunday 28th October 2001 marked the launch of the "Interactive Walk" and booklet and, the completion of the first stage of the City's "Streetscape" project. For the occasion the October market day coincided with a "Back to Boulderfest" organized by the BPDA it is hoped that many of our pioneer's descendants enjoyed this occasion.

It was decided by the committee to add the information received about the pioneers of Boulder to the booklet "Golden Footsteps" which was an original project by Boulder's Hidden Secret, to save duplication and to give a more comprehensive outlook on early Boulder. The BPDA asked to retain the name "Golden Footsteps" in recognition of the many hours of hard work put in by Boulder's Hidden Secrets. There is also a brochure produced by the BPDA with the title "Boulder's Hidden Secrets".
